Philip Jones - Biography

 

 
 - Philip Jones is a RM trainer and co-editor of ISO 15489 International Records Management Standard -

Philip Jones


Philip Jones has over 30 years information management experience in public and private sector organisations both as a practitioner and at a senior management level.

His wide range of practical experience has involved working in the areas of information legislation, information security and electronic document and records management.

 

Philip is a co-editor of ISO 15489 International Records Management Standard.  He is Chairman of the BSI Archives & Records Management Committee and is the author of a number of books on records and information management.  He was appointed the first ever Visiting Professor of records management at the University of Northumbria in 2000, a role he still fulfils.

Amongst his other professional activities, Philip has served as Director and then Chairman of the Records Management Society.  He is currently President of the International Records Management Council.  Philip was voted UK Records Manager of the Year 2000.

Philip has spoken widely on the topics of records and information management both in the UK and around the world.  He has presented papers in the USA, Australia, South Africa, Japan, Sweden, Italy and Ireland.

Philip has been a PDP trainer for several years and consistently receives a grading of "excellent" from delegates on his training sessions.
